Heath and Social Care Level 4

TABS Training Courses

Who is this qualification for?

Level 4 NVQ in Health and Social Care is designed to reflect the work of candidates who undertake Health and Social Care activities at Level 4 working with service users/carers. The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills and competences of candidates in the workplace.

The qualification is about the management and delivery of physical, emotional or enabling care to clients/service users. The candidate will be managing and delivering care in support of others, and will be accountable in the area of practice.

Candidates will be working without direct supervision or on their own, such as in a clients/service users own home. Candidates will have autonomy, and will be required to make decisions within boundaries and limits agreed with their team.

This NVQ will allow for progression to and from OCR's existing portfolio of Health and Social Care qualifications and will complement other vocational qualifications.

You need to be employed to take this qualification.

How is the qualification achieved?

The candidate must complete 8 units in total. 4 Core Units and 4 Optional Units. This qualification is very flexible in its structure enabling the organisation and individual to choose the optional units which best suit their work situation and job role.

Like all NVQs this qualification is competence based,  meaning that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range oftasks connected with their work.

Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.

How is the course run?

At TABS we work with groups of candidates. By delivering this way we find that candidates are more motivated and able to support one another. Commitment to achieve is greater and individuals complete their awards much more quickly.

What is the cost of the NVQ?

There are funding streams available to partially cover the costs of some Level 4 NVQs,  please call our NVQ  specialist to discuss the pricing and possible funding.

What is the duration of the NVQ?

The course takes 14 weeks. Your group will meet for half a day for each of the 14 weeks. Your assessor will arrange individual observation appointment times with each candidate.
