Health and Social Care Diploma Level 3
Who is this qualification for?
The Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care has replaced the NVQ Level 3, it is designed to reflect the work of candidates who undertake Heath & Social Care activities at Level 3 working with service users and carers. The aim of achieving this qualification is to recognise the skills and competences of candidates in the workplace.
Level 3 is about the delivery of physical, emotional or enabling care to clients/service users. The candidate will usually be delivering care in support of, and under the direction of, a colleague who is accountable in the area of practice.
Candidates often work without direct supervision or on their own, such as in a clients/service users own home.
They will have a degree of responsibility and autonomy, and will be required to make decisions within boundaries and limits agreed with their team.
The candidate would be expected to seek support, advice or assistance if they are unclear about what to do or if unusual or untoward situations arise.
How is the qualification achieved?
To complete the diploma, the candidate must achieve 28 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 30 credits from the optional units available.
This qualification is very flexible in its structure enabling the organisation and individual to choose the optional units which best suit their work situation and job role.
The qualification is competence based, meaning that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work.
Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that htey are competent and knowledgable in their work role.
How is the course run?
At TABS we work with groups of candidates seeing them once a week for until the course is completed. By delivering this way we find that candidates are more motivated and able to support one another. Commitment to achieve is greater and individuals complete their qualifications much more quickly.
The Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is available as both a stand alone qualification or as part of an apprenticeship package.
What is the cost of the Qualification?
If the candidate is over 19, and has been resident in the EU for at least 3 years then it is possible that you will be able to obtain full government funding.
